CSI Arson Investigator

The CSI Arson Investigator is a 3 in 1 combination tool combining a Hydrocarbon Detector, an Ultraviolet Scanner and a Very Bright Flashlight. The Arson Investigator is a ruggedly constructed instrument that is housed in an aluminum flashlight type enclosure. Simplicity of operation is that of a flashlight; however sensitivity and versatility exceeds that of more sophisticated instruments. This new portable broadband hydrocarbon detector senses trace amounts of accelerants and fugitive gases. The array of 16 intense UV LEDS causes hydrocarbons to fluoresce under the influence of ultraviolet light. This fluorescence helps locate concentrations of accelerants or other suspect materials. The array of 8 White LEDs will light up the scene. The Arson Investigator is capable of detecting accelerants, some days after a fire.

CSI Gunshot Residue Kit (GSR)

GSR testing has been available in different forms for about 30 years, but all tests to date had one common feature and that is the investigating officer 'swabs' the hands of the suspect to collect GSR particles and then sends the swabs to a laboratory for analysis by various methods. The laboratory method commonly recognized as most reliable and practical is interpretation via Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). However, it can take weeks even months, to obtain results from a laboratory, so the benefit to an officer offered by GSR testing has been very limited. In fact, many officers don't even bother applying the technique, despite the fact that it is a reasonably reliable technology! This GSR kit is different in as much as it is a "binary" test. This means that it allows the investigating officer to test the suspect two times for GSR residues, once directly at the scene, which provides an immediate investigative or "presumptive" benefit, and again in the laboratory, which provides the "evidentiary" data for use in court later on. Full instructions are supplied in every kit.

CSI Hydrocarbon Detector

The CSI Hydrocarbon Detector is for the detection of Hydrocarbons, Petroleum Volatiles and Gas. This product incorporates advanced signal processing techniques in combination with a ruggedly constructed detector, to bring you the most advanced survey tool available today. It has a Hi-Low Range Switch which will change the sensitivity of the unit and permits meter indication in areas of high concentration. Aids in pinpointing hydrocarbon source. A Solid State Sensor is a plug-in type housed in a protective cone mounted at the tip of a telescopic-probe (18" retracted 46" extended), providing a reasonable distance from suspect toxic material. The CSI Hydrocarbon Detector features two modes of operation: The first is the 'High Sensitivity' search mode for locating very small gas leaks and calibrated mode of operation that indicates 0% of the lower explosive limit (LEL), methane used as the test gas. The second as a general purpose survey tool while walking an area of concern (use like a walking cane). This is useful as a survey tool for detecting leaking underground storage tanks or petrol/gasoline leaks that have seeped into sewer lines. This product is supplied in an attaché case and comes complete with a battery charger and manual.

CSI 'RIFF' Kit

When the war broke out in Iraq, the CSI GSR Kit ISID-1 (product code 97130) was presented to the Pentagon. Military commanders immediately recognised the benefit of this technology. Soldiers were being attacked by hostile combatants dressed as civilians, hiding in cars and buildings etc. Once fired, they would then put down their weapons, mingle among civilians and soldiers with impunity, creating a very dangerous situation. However the product in its present form was of no use to the Military. Soldiers needed a smaller product, so that they could carry several tests in their backpacks. They also needed a product that primarily yielded field results, not evidence for trial. Thus, a military version of this technology was developed and renamed RIFF (Rapid Identification, Friend or Foe) by the Pentagon. The Military can now quickly and accurately identify hostile combatants (shooters), and detain them. The test also responds accurately to black powder (gunpowder), so it is helpful in identifying persons who have been building bombs or transporting explosives. Formerly only available to US troops it is now available to our Military and other selected agencies thru CSI.

Dropex Kit

Complete Kit The Dropex Kit was developed to detect Group A explosives, Group B explosives, Nitrate based improvised explosives and Chlorate-based improvised explosives TATP- (Tri Acetone Tri Peroxide) Simple to use these field kits work on the principles of wet chemistry which gives a colour reaction when the agent comes into contact with minute amounts of explosives. The colour reactions are specific to each group of explosives. No additional equipment is needed and it works in all conditions and environments. It gives extremely quick results. It is safe and meets international safety standards. It will detect minute traces of explosives (20 ngs) with No false negatives and a very low false positive rate. It is extremely cost effective and has a multitude of uses such as used for sweeping and searching for explosives at sensitive installations, airports, roadblocks, checkpoints, VIP events, vehicles, suspect houses, etc.

Expray Explosive Detection Kit

A unique, aerosol based field test kit for the Group A explosive (TNT, TNB etc) and Group B explosives (Semtex H, RDX etc) and compounds that may contain nitrates that are used in improvised explosives. Expray is commonly used as a pre-blast analysis tool post blast investigative tool and as a technical evaluation test on hazardous material “clean up” sites. When used as an after explosion tool it helps speed up crucial investigations ‘on the spot’. Sensitivity – less than 1 microgram. The testing process is fast and efficient. Results appear in seconds and no additional tool or equipment are required. Each cannister detects a different type of explosive revealing a different colour for each explosive category. Simply wipe the suspected area with the adhesive collection paper and spray Expray on the paper with each of the three cans until a colour reaction appears. Only an immediate reaction should be considered positive. The sprays are packed in a rigid carrying case complete with collection papers. For replacement papers please see product code 95703 found in this section.
